drypoint, 1918, on laid paper, signed in pencil, inscribed Liebespaar (Probehanddruck) gehört mir, a hand-printed trial proof of the second, final state, a very good, tonal impression, before the portfolio edition of Gesichter of one hundered (forty on Japon and sixty on laid paper) published by the Marées Gesellschaft, Munich, this impression cited by Hofmaier as one of three known trial proofs of this state (he records only one proof of the first state), probably the full sheet, several short nicks and tears at the upper sheet edge at left, small foxmarks and minor surface dirt in the margins, otherwise in good condition
